To read or not to read???

Hi there,

I've started on Air Law as part of distance learning ATPLs, and I was wondering what everyone tends to do regarding the official documents? For example is it really necessary to read and learn the full official DOC7300, AIP, and all of the CAPs - or do the textbooks cover the essential information in detail?

Obviously I want to be a conscientious pilot and learn everything that needs to be learnt, but I'd rather not waste my time with anything unnecessary.

Thanks!

To read or not to read???

I'll be interested to see the answers to this as I've always wondered what the point is of questions like: you take your skills test on 25th may 2013 and apply for your rating on 19th June 2013. When does your rating expire?

My rating expires on the date it says on my licence that my rating expires surely?

Check the learning objectives, your current training provider should be able to send them to you. Read the documents which are relevant to that list. Although the books should cover everything.

The questions are strange in ATPLs, so I would suggest getting a question bank asap and knowing each subject you are to be tested on inside out!! Then when you are comfortable with each bank and if you have extra time learn extra material. Anyone who says otherwise is not telling the truth, the questions are so strange even if you knew everything on the subject they could still trip you up. Sad but true!!!
