It must bother you as you know fine that if 2 students for evey one cadet didn't put there families capital at risk you would have the option where you got your new FO's from.

There are no jobs which are ear marked for none cadets these days from the big schools. And as much as you like to say it airlines are run by accountant not the training deptments. So the schools have an effective tax claw back just now.

If this goes it doesn't matter what you would like you will be forced to deal with cheapest option.


But we all know that if the self finaced students wern't there you would only have one option because there isn't enough cadet work to support one school never mind three.

Just my two penny's worth,

I saved up and started modular back in 2010, Went to London met full time and completed my practical training at Stapleford Flight Centre.
I can fully agree that the training was excellent and the instructors was first class.
I managed first time passes on all exams and passed with minimum hours.
Once the training had finished it took me roughly one year to get my first job (Which is on the Airbus 320)
Before this job I had interviews with 3 different small operators.

You wouldn't believe how much time I have spent reading threads on this forum,I still can't make the right choice.

For the time being, I am considering the Qatar airways pilot cadet program. It sounds a bit more secured than the other ones. It is a very world wide known airlines, and they GURANTEE me a job before I start the training.

What do you personally think about it ?

If you can get on to one of these cadet programmes I think you would be doing very well for yourself. However it would be better getting information from somebody who is already on one. My understanding is that some of the cadets are spending a significant amount of time waiting for training slots to be made available. On the one hand they are being paid, on the other it can be very frustrating.

Be very wary about the word "Guarantee!" Few things in life are, and there are simply too many variables and unknowns for any job to be guaranteed.

As with all of these programmes, there is certain to be a great deal of competition for a few places. The choice of candidates falls to the airlines concerned from the applications received.

And I would agree totally with Bealzebub as well.

Having lived and worked in both Sweden and the Middle East your in for a huge cultural shock in the way you are treated as an individual and as an employee.

You need to do some homework about the working conditions and lifestyle in the area. It suits some people but for others its a living hell. The contract law over there is completely different to what you are used to and there are no unions to deal with the management.

I am going to apply this summer, because I graduate at the end of May. Then I still need to wait for my results to come out around August. I feel a bit safer about this quarter airways cadet program and I am really looking forward to join them and live in the middle east (i have lived there before).
