Diamond Flight Academy Scandinavia

Hi,

Does anyone have any new information regarding diamond flight academy at Kalmar airport in Sweden? I have already looked at previous posts about the school, which seem good, but any new information about it would be great :)

Thanks.

I seem to be unable to reach anyone there by email or through their contact form. Does anyone know if there are prolonged summer holidays in sweden ?

Hi,

I did my training with them last summer. All I can say is very positive, I got what I've paid for. Good environment, atmosphere, training. I am recommending them!

I visited a few months back and thought they looked very good.

I should be able to give you a better review in about 3 months time. :)

Has anyone recently completed the CPL/MEIR course with diamond and can share their experiences?

What's the pros and cons?

Anything you wish you had of known before you went?

Do the instructors try to get the best out of you or are you sort of thrown the manual and left to your own devices?

They sound good from what I've previously heard and are well priced!

Thanks

Finished in DFAS last month - only positives to say about the school. Paid what was initially agreed despite flying more time than advertised on the course. Fly/sim Monday-Friday and weekends normally off.

Instructors - excellent, varied experience, some purely flight instructors and others from commercial background. Generally 3 instructors assigned to a course and a fourth, Tommy (ex fighter pilot, great guy) would fly the odd time with both courses.
Aircraft - DA42 was an amazing aircraft to train in. Maintained very well. 3 in the fleet, two hangered in Kalmar and always one in Kyritz in Germany for maintenance.
Training - Fast paced and very structured. Simulator 5 minute walk from the main building and transport usually supplied by instructors. ME-IR phase of training consisted of local flights in Kalmar and cross country flights/trips to destinations like Aalborg and Kyritz.

Very happy with my experience - a lot of demand for the school currently due to their deserved reputation. Would recommend. Bit more expensive than other schools but all hours are completed on multi which I found very helpful.

The total cost is around £27k right? How many hours did that include?

It was approx. 28000 EUR for me!

40 Hours Sim and 41 Hours MEP, including flight test :)

hi LIFFY4E, how was your time there and was it quite recent?

CT2160 13th Jul 2019 19:50

Can only second LIFFY4E's comments. I finished at DFAS last week and have nothing but positives to say. With accommodation (which is to a high standard), the course came to around £24-25K.

Henrik and the instructors have to be some of the friendliest guys in the business and you'll soon feel at home at DFAS. Good quality pre-flight lesson briefings, and the small groups give very good instructor-student and instructor-aircraft ratios. Good quality post-lesson debriefs with very useful advice where needed. They're really good at keeping records of your progress per lesson and you get a final report as soon as you finish, which is beneficial to have.
As Liffy said, the Diamond was brilliant to fly. Handles nicely, excellent G1000 avionics and is a great platform on which to get comfortable with MEP flying. The whole course being on the DA42 is another bonus, with it having you really comfortable with the engine failure drills and procedures.
The training went to the expected timing (I actually finished a couple of days sooner than expected upon arriving initially). The training is excellently structured with a steady and logical progression through the IR syllabus and onto CPL. Simulator is very near to accommodation as is Apron 2 and the Hangar. Additionally we got some international IFR flying time to Germany which was good experience.

Couldn't be happier with my time with Diamond Flight Academy and would highly recommend to any future CPL MEIR pilots.
