MCC Simtech
 

Hi guys!

I'm close to the end of my IR training and I'm currently looking for a place to do the MCC/JOC.

I'm hesitating between Simtech and European Skybus. European is less expensive and it's on a full motion simulator. however, I've been told that Simtech has very good contacts in the industry (Ryanair and Flybe at least) and they can eventually help their student to have an interview. Is that true?
And of course, they seem very good!
So I don't know if it's worth paying 1500€ more to go to Simtech to have better chance to get an interview with an airline at the end?

I know that FLybe is not recruiting, but I'm pretty sure Ryanair will be recruiting again shortly..

Any thoughts about that?

It's a good course but do not expect any employment help from them.

I went to Simtech and as stated above dont base your decision on possible contacts but more on the quality of the training provided. I myself would recommend Simtech as they offered a great course with a good emphasis on the ground school portion of the course , Which I sometimes feel Is overlooked. Sim wise it was brilliant. Excellent instructors who gave thorough briefings and really made the most of the time you had in the sim. Downsides well I didn't have any and I know in excess of five others who have also had similar experiences. As Stated though nobody will guarantee you a job so take it with a pinch of salt.....

Please do not think for 1 second that simtech are going to get you an interview.
The only time I had a bad experience in the industry training-wise was through them. Now I didn't do my MCC there but the experience left a particularly bad taste in my mouth

I did my MCC with European Skybus and can heartily recommend them.

I don't doubt for one second Simtech is a good place to do an MCC. I was just wondering if what they say to people is true.. It's always easy to say that a school can recommend people to some airlines!

Have a look at CRM Europe at White Waltham. Good quality course and a good price. Comes well recommended.

well said flygeek , i had the same experiance there, i did the mcc. if i was back again i would have gone elsewhere.

:ok:European Skybus - excellent experience, great instructors. JOC was worth it too. Also the 747 (albeit not a requirement) is great fun!:ok:

European Skybus will not be around much longer. It has been sold and the sims will be moving to St Athan in September.

Don't normally post much on here, but i felt i had to.

I did my MCC/JOC with European Skybus at Hurn on the full motion ex SAA B744 full-motion sim at the start of this year. It was excellent fun and highly informative.

The ground school section also was very interactive and the course material of a good standard. Overall the course was well run with excellent instructors (I had an ex BA Captain) and very helpful admin staff and was good value for money.

One thing i would suggest however, do the JOC section first as it will give you a better understanding to the operations of the sim and jet experience, if like me you were a novice.

I would suggest therefore do it with European!

It is a "tick in the box" course, no pass or fail, just turn up. Do it as cheaply as you can. Do not bother with JOC courses. Save the money for the type rating that you will need to buy your way in these days. That will give you all the JOC/ MCC experience of the other courses.

Any MCC course you do will end up with the same result.
If they are promising you a chance of an interview, then they are lying.
I did my MCC with Simtech a few years ago and after a few weeks i rang them up to see about getting my CV pushed forward by them, I was simply told that they not have the authority to do such a thing.
You must also remember the cost involved in staying in Dublin, plus they are out in the middle of no where now and not at the airport, so you will be spending a lot on taxis to get there.

As far as i know they are using the ATR for the MCC so you will be doing it in a turbo prop instead of a jet aircraft.

My vote is for CRM Aviation at White Waltham. First class course, instructors and sim. Great value for money and the best course of my training, apart from the type rating! Most of the new guys I have come across did their MCC there and they all say it was good.

This back door CV business at Simtech seems like a real con and not fitting of a so called training organisation. I did look at them and they we're circa 3000 euros from memory?. A lot more than CRM and European.
