ATPL Theory - Jet Streams
 

Hi Everyone,

I'm studying for the ATPL Met exam and I'm fascinated with jet streams. My problem is that I find the BoM book to lack explaining the "practical" side of flying in/around jet streams. I am finding myself reading research articles on "horizontal vortex tubes", gravity waves, TNTT (turbulence near thunderstorm tops), etc, but can't find anything substantial on "how to pilots fly around/though/under them"?

I'm looking for active line pilots, previous pilots, or any pilot that can give more insight into this phenomena from a practical perspective.

I understand concepts such as how jet streams move seasonally poleward/equatorward, that we have 2 of them that effect flying in Australia, and other such theoretic concepts of using them for west-east operations only.
