ATPL questions and answers dvds

Hi,

I've not yet enrolled on an ATPL course, but going to do the ATPLs with CATS in Jan. I've bought all of the CATS books and have been studying the subjects in unit 1. I have done all of the subjects apart from Met and I'm getting about 75% in each after about 2 months of study. I have decided to buy the Oxford OAA CDs just to help my understanding and make sure I obtain a comfortable pass first time. I am also looking at some questions and answers CDs and books which I will be using after the Oxford CDs for consolidation and exam technique. My question is- there are various Q&A CDs but which one is most effective?

The 3 I have seen are:

ATPL Question Bank Interactive CD - Pilot Training from Flightstore UK

Oxford Aviation ATPL Exam Prep Training Software - Pilot Training from Flightstore UK

JAA ATPL Exam Preparation by Oxford Aviation Academy Limited (CD-ROM, 2004) 190620215X | eBay

There are also these books:

JAA Test Prep 2012 - Complete 13 Book set - Pilot Training from Flightstore UK

Any thoughts to which CDs are best?

Thanks

Oxford DVD

I'īve got the Oxford DVD because it came when I received my books, Itīs a good complement to your study, but it wonīt give you explanations or anything, itīs just simple right or wrong multiple answer questions. As I said itīs just good to either avoid doing always the same questions or complement your study, It shouldnīt be used as a study base instead of a book or the Question Bank. Hope I helped, any questions just PM me :)

Seriously, don't waste your money. The school you choose to study with will provide all course notes and literature required. Then after you have studied hit the question bank. It's not hard - theres nothing above GCSE level in any of the exams, theres just a fair amount to learn.

You can't really study for this like a degree and try and absorb everything and then take the exams; the questions are so poorly written, often translated from another language, that unless you have seen some of them before you don't stand a reasonable chance of getting the expected 95%+ average.

BGS Online

The most credible is Bristol Groundschool's on-line service - www.bgsonline.eu

Completely agree with this. I have a mate who did some of his subjects by pure book-learning. The first stage of the exams took him over a year to study for (he was holding down a full time job while studying). I think he got 100% in most of these subjects but this required more effort spent on stage 1 than most people spend on the entire course. Then he discovered the questionbanks and polished the remaining exams off in about 6 months.

Certain subjects do need more learning and understanding than others e.g. Met., but you still need the questionbanks in addition to the study because of the dreadful drafting of the questions.

Subjects like Air Law and Ops just require rote-learning and the questionbanks are an exceptionally boring, but effective way to do this.

I actually wish they didn't do multi-choice exams as having to learn the subjects properly would be much more satisfying.

Has anyone tried the ATPL Question Bank Interactive CD from flightstore.co.uk?
