Has anyone experience of ASG jet & the 800 hours jet time they offer ?

Stay away from them !!, have been some very negitive postings about them on the Dutch version of PPRuNe (Director of company is Dutch). Should also find some info in previous postings if you perform a search on PPRuNe.

If you have personal experience of ASG (or any other FTO or company) please feel free to comment here. If your comment is purely based on what you may or may not have read or heard elsewhere, I'm afraid that isn't very helpful - to say the least.

I am aware that there are one or two, with a real grudge against this outfit, who come out of the woodwork whenever the subject is raised. I, and others, would be pleased to read some personal experiences from a wider sample of ASG customers.

Fair enough, I will be back shortly on that.

Sorry scroggs your right, only trying to help out. Did state to search previous postings on PPRuNe for more info. Will place a posting on Dutch bulletin board and see if I can get them to share their experience here.

Where's smoke there's fire; in this particular case a fire you don't want to get burned by.

I know the people that run ASG personally.
I went through there program when they used to call themselves I.P.S. (Independent Pilot Service).

They where involved in several lawsuits, local and national newspapers and magazines reported over the way they conducted bussiness..etc.,etc.

So...people don't get burned!!

They would not have to get into problems with the FAA or INS at all as it was a problem between Dutch students who had problems with a Dutch contract they had with a Dutch company. This company subbed it to the states if I recall it correctly...

I am pretty sure you don't have to travel half way across the world to throw your money away.

So why bother with A.S.G.!!

Please do your research. From the many posts concerning the A.S.G. the only positive one i have seen was the one you are replying to.
The odds aren't looking good.

Trust me... there are better programs if you look a bit harder.

In general,especially in aviation:" if it looks to good to be true, it probably is".

And what are your connections with CAE in the Holland? ASG seem to have good feedback apart that from you guys!!

Are you, CAE, and the legal batlle between students (setting up a similar operation, as above) and ASG. All connected ? Or am I just looking at things in my paranoid way? :rolleyes: :rolleyes: :rolleyes:

I don't know Dutchie or Dutchman or am in any way affilliated with any organisation trying to sell flighttime to wannabe's like myself.

I am like many struggling to get a flying job and I hate to see people like myself getting conned by people like the Vellinga's (ASG).

Like i said before I know these guy's personally and to put it mildly: Steer clear of them!

Jasonjdr, your detective qualities are as good as your English.

If you go to a Dutch site called www.airwork.nl, which is in Dutch but if you post in English you will get an English response. And ask or look for ASG there you will get some good responses. And no, the twenty or so people posting on that are not one and the same person either. What has happened is that there has been a remark posted on that board to inform the people on this board about ASG.

Believe me, Vellinga is like a swearword to the majority there and for valid reasons..

At least, its clear in my mind now. Also I seemed to have pushed a small amount of information to the surface. Dutchie, thanks for the link. I will try to find out what else makes you think that ASG are not worth going to?

So far it doesn't seem as though the lawsuits you referred too were held up (according to irjt24)? Maybe someone could provide information to the contrary?

In my opinion this company delivers the basic idea and you have to be quite motivated and willing to be flexible. I know one guy who flew there and ended up with a carrier in Holland on the right seat on the 73. For some others it didn't work out that well..
So its not a real scam. Some get where they want to be, some not...

Couple of questions...

a) I take it even if students ended up flying in Holland, etc, the training is for the FAA licence (not JAA)?

b) For those who did the the full FO course - how much did it cost you? What was the course breakdown?

RADARNOSE - Do you have any links to companies offering similar style courses?

Total cost for the program is $36,000 (ouch :eek: ). A down payment of $10,000 is needed at the outset. Full details are sent to you if you place a request through their website, which is advertised regularly above. (thats where i got the figures)

At the following url's you will find First Officer programs of which the Gulfstream program is pretty well known in the industry:

I don't know if they are bonafide programs or not,i never took part in any of them.

I was told by a friend who followed the Gulfstream program that Gulfstream was a decent outfit and that he a had great time flying for them.
