CAA time to issue licence?
 
Hi

A few weeks ago I submitted my CPL application to the CAA along with the relevant paperwork including my logbooks, and large amounts of money.

I expected it to take a while as I understand the City sports day shenanigans, plus EASA are causing a certain amount of delay.

That said, does anyone have any idea roughly how long it's taking these days?

Hi, I sent everything away for my PPL on 18th of June and got everything back 2 1/2 weeks later. I know you sent away for a difference licence, but hope this helps.

From the CAA website :

Customer Notice - 1st June 2012

Please be aware that we are currently experiencing high volumes of engineering applications. We are currently processing applications received around 30 working days ago. In order for us to process these applications as quickly and efficiently as possible please refrain from calling us and chasing your application.
Which means your looking at 6 weeks minimum.

They also told me that it was 30 days minimum when getting a medical transfer. Didn't take anywhere near that long, think they just put it to cover themselves.

Thanks for responding all. I've got a "we called, you were out" card from FedEx, so I'm guessing it's arrived. That's three calendar weeks. Will confirm when I've collected it tomorrow.

BigGrecian - that note refers to Engineers licences. There isn't a similar note for the Pilot / Aircrew part. It would be useful if there was some kind of indication.

lajeharo - looks like it was a reasonable indication. Congrats on getting your PPL, by the way. Enjoy your membership of a privileged club, in whatever way you can!

I'm just biding my time until November at this point, when I'll be leaving for the US to do the rest of my training. My flying in the UK will have to be restricted to a couple of sessions in the circuit so I don't lose my landing skills... wished I had the money to do more flying here before I go, as flying over this country is just beautiful.
