Help! Need to hour build anywhere in the world (Mars included)

I have my commercial licensces, FAA and European. Anybody have any bright ideas or leads where to hourbuild? By the way, slight detail, I'm also completely out of cash.

Unfortunately, with all of the recent bankruptcies and aircrew reductions, I think you are asking this question at the worst time possible - a lot of aircrews looking for work...

I don't know your background, so, I would suggest you maybe look into building hours in the States - maybe look for a "cheap" package in Texas or Arizona (better flying weather). Not having cash complicates things more, but is understandable... I know there are some flight schools that offer SIC flight experience on Metroliners and King Airs (cargo operations) in addition to normal time building - maybe that would work for you.

I would ask this same question on the Wannabes forum. Perhaps WWW could recommend a course of action for you.

Good luck and keep your head up!

LAVDUMPER,

In which forum do you think you are?
This is the wannabes forum!!!!!

Back to the topic....

USA in for sure less expensive than the uk I have seen in the pilot magazine that DeBenair offer 100hours for $39 hour this is not bad(C152)...they are in Florida east coast located in Titusville ....I do not know if they are good or not but I have flown in that part of Florida and landed in Titusville and looks really nice!!

I have recently done some hour building in Palma de Mallorca (SPAIN) for about £65 hour(C150),very nice weather and friendly people they are called Mega aviation, you find them in the pilot magazine too, and are located at san bonet airport....You can fly to Menorca and Ibiza from there !!!

Good luck!!

Come to White Waltham and fly for £10 per hour!! Various single seaters are available. I would be happy to provide further information if anybody wants.

Of course you are aware that, under JAR, any hours accrued on Mars cannot be considered for the issue or revalidation of any licence or rating.

Dan Dare, 10 quid an hour?????????????????????? You must be on a wind up! Is that model airplanes or the rental of a superman cloak? Tell us more!

Dan Dare 12th Nov 2001 03:23

No, not a wind up, but probably to be taken with a (small) pinch of salt. I actually do pay about 10 pound per hour, but you wont find many deals like that. There are also nominal fixed costs involved.

As an example I have flown a Jodel at White Waltham for many years with the following costs:

1200 Initial purchase of share (Saleable)
100 Approx annual insurance cost
25 Monthly fees to cover hangarage
6 Hourly fuel costs approx
3 Hourly charge into kitty

The more you fly, the cheeper the hourly cost!

There are also Luton Minors available at White Waltham with similar operating costs, but smaller initial outlay.

Airfields all over the country have PFA single seat aircraft available for keen group members. These aircraft are basic, but logable towards flying qualifications and jobs. They are also GREAT FUN to fly!!

I can give more info if its needed, but I always think its best to go to your local airfield and ask arround...

I have been seriously comtemplating putting together a deal where I sell 4 shares in a quality C177 fixed gear IFR, GPS eqipped aircraft here in the USA, (Florida) I recon that over a usual 250 hour timebuilding routine in say 6 months with a guaranteed buyback I could provide a quality, well maintained, four seat, 130kt aircraft for about $50 an hour. Not sure how much interest there would be though.

Capital cost would be $12,000 (US$) with a guarantee 60% buyback. Any interest please send me a private message and I'll be glad to provide full details.

A wet hire 172 in Australia costs around 33 quid an hour, or AUD$100.

A flying holiday around the whole country will take you around 50 hours plus. Grab a freind and have the holiday of a lifetime. You could easily spend another 50 hours too if you wanted to explore every little bit, and believe me there is a hell of a lot to see!

Email me if you want more info.
