New Flight Training Centre at Newquay Airport

Hey guys and gals just found out there is a new flight training centre opening up in Newquay they are calling them selfs FLYNQY ex Plymouth Flying School. I recon this would be a really good place to learn to fly if you like the whole outdoor life style ,think you could be surfing in the morning down at MawgenPorth then have flying lessons, I hear they will be opening up at the start of November.:):)

Because I am a member They should be starting up at the start of november. here is a link from the local newspaper.Flying school leaves Plymouth City Airport for new base in Newquay | This is Plymouth.

Well good luck to them shame they have had to leave plymouth.

Will they be the only flying school at Newquay?

Every thing from PPL to CPL and single IR, give Plymouth Flying School a call they are there for the next couple of weeks..They will also be handleing the Newquay GA aircraft...

From what they've said the welcome that NQY have given them has been second to none, much better than they were ever treated at Plymouth. I would continue to use them however it is just too far to travel. At least they have tried to make the best of a bad situation, it seems it may actually be a change for the better.

196 quid dual for a C152

Is that pretty standard for down south?

No far too much.

Their website appears to suggest that CPL training in a PA28 Arrow is £353 per hour. Possibly the most expensive rate for any flight school I've ever seen, anywhere. I know more than one UK school that offers CPL training on a twin for less than that!

I spent 3 years of my early adulthood at Newquay and I would strongly advise avoiding the place.

Unless of course you want to be knee deep in Klunge....:E:E:E

£196 p/h for a 152? At that rate they'll do well not to be a new & defunct flight school. That's outrageous.

Maybe that includes all the "Klunge" one can handle! :ok:
