Assistance required on Lamberts chart
I wonder if anyone can help me on the following question,
On a Lamberts chart 1cm represents 18.5NM. An aeroplane flying for 10 mins at a ground speed of 205kt would cover a chart distance of? Thanks. |
Hint: Start by chenging 18.5 nm to cm. That will get you the representative fraction. You could then work out how many cm you travel in ten minutes.
Hint: To convert nm to km, simply look down the middle of your calculator for the clue - 1.852 Phil |
At a ground speed of 205 kt you are flying 205 nm in 60 min. In 10 min you are flying 205 nm * 10 min / 60 min ≈ 34.16 nm. If 1 cm represents 18.5 nm then the chart distance is 34.16 NM / 18.5 NM/cm ≈ 1.85 cm.
