EPST Compass Test
I have recently attended a pilot assessment day for a FTO. I completed the Compass test and scored 26/42. The FTO told me that this was a good score and that i could commence the ATPL program. Did anyone else do this test and get a similar score and get the same feedback, or if you got a different score what was your feedback. Im afraid that it is not a great score and that the FTO are egar to take my 85000 euro.

Im not 100% on this but I do believe the oxford compass test pass mark is 26/42, was the school you did yours with oxford? If so then your mark of 26 was just a pass!! Im basing this on when I did this assessment back in 07, things might have changed now, or could be the same, I dont know!

Yeah it was with oxford, however a guy in the group got 24 and also got offered a place. I know i could improve on the maths, which was the part that got me down |
Ah I see, I guess things have changed since then, 26 does not seem to be the magic number anymore, I did this 4 years ago now so I guessed my info may have been out of date!

With €85,000 in your bank I'm sure you'll pass with a lower score.

Oxford can choose to lower the pass mark. If people cannot borrow the cash, they might be starting to do this.

They not gonna hire you. They dont risk anything. Actually, the lower score - the harder it will be for you. Then more extra you have to fly --> even more cash to them! |
Wow. €85.000. And how much more chances of a job you have then doing your training at a no-name modular place?
Ask for the stats of the amount of students that graduated in the last 4 years, and how many actually work as a pilot at the moment. Ask references of those that are flying and contact them if they are paying to fly. My advise, look for a more affordable outfit and safe yourself half of what you are about to spent. Put that part in your bankaccount. :cool: Go hourbuilding after obtaining your CPL (instructing, paradropping) and then when you have at least 1000 hours, get a type rating, go to Asia and use the last part of your money to pay for your cost of living while flying a shiny jet for a meagre wage at an Asian operator. Then in 5 years time you will also have spent that €85.000 but you would have spread your risk and been able to accumulate a lot more experience than the 150 hours you get out of a integrated course....:ouch: |
