mcc course in south of uk

Pruners - I want to do an MCC course and can see Oxford, CRM Aviation and European Skybus look like good bets. Can anybody give me some feedback on these. In terms of price CRM look the best but would like to hear about all of them.

CharlieRomeo 10th Feb 2011 15:09

I know a bit off thread to the places your looking at,

but I would give Richard Moss a call at Wolverhampton Halfpenny Green.

I did the MCC there, Richard is ex-VC10 tanker driver for the RAF so his experience is worth a lot and I took a lot away from the MCC he offered.

Very enjoyable course, enjoy wherever you go!

I did mine at CRM cranfiled. it was a good course. not too sure about oxford - i did look at them but it was quite expensive.

Did mine at European, Bournemouth, ex-Ryanair 737-200 sim

Good course and staff.

Is the one at WBA still running, I heard they had closed down!

swaontrack 11th Feb 2011 11:03

Surely there has to be more current feedback about these 3 mcc schools. I want to be book with one of them but want to be sure before parting with my cash. Oxford looks expensive hut the others look about the same in money.

r1flyguy35 - who is WBA?

Wing_Bound_Vortex 11th Feb 2011 11:32

European at BOH gets my vote, excellent reputation and a well developed, fun course by all accounts. Have never heard a bad word against it, resonable price I believe as well.

WBV

WBA = Wolverhampton Business Aerodrome or Halfpenny Green as it's better known.

Good luck with your choice

I think at OAT you will be back of the queue for slots against the Intergrated students but have heard the MCC/JOC courses are good.

Officially it doesn't mater where you do it as it's just a tick in the box and most companies will give you another MCC course when you start with them anyway, so in effect a waste of money but a requirement nonetheless,
Still I couldn't fault European at Bournmeouth :ok:

Thanks for the feedback. Unfortunately the Flight Centre went out of business 12 months ago but parts of it are up and running as Halfpenny Green Flying Centre (similar name, new company). They are still advertising MCC courses and I think my former colleague Graham Wright is doing some of the instruction - an ex BA 777 man he is a top bloke and I would wholeheartedly recommend him .

I'm now out in the Middle East - it's a bit different from Wolverhampton!

PS: It was VC10 transports, not tankers. One of my colleagues described us as "the military wing of BA!".

R1flyguy35 - If it's just a case of ticking the box it makes sense to me to go with the best value for money offer. CRM look to be the cheapest and teh reviews seem pretty good, so I guess it makes sense to take route.

Thanks for all you help chaps :D- I'll book up today................

I did Oxford MCC on 737 400. Was a good course, and good FNPTII

Highly recommended from me.

Subhuman 14th Feb 2011 15:23

I would also tick the European at Bournemouth box - well priced, great instructors - thumbs up from me :). I've now recommended 4 or 5 people there and they all said they had a good experience with them.

The other key to a successful and fun MCC (where ever you choose) is to have switched on students....

Coffin Corner 21st Feb 2011 11:50

Naa the key to enjoying it is to sleep through the classroom stage and wake up for the simulator part :ok:

Hey,

I just completed my MCC at European Skybus last week. It was well organised, experienced instructors/captains and great full motion simulators. Great value for money. Highly recommended.

EGGD 1st Apr 2011 21:26

I can add another recommendation for European Skybus in Bournemouth. Friendly and helpful staff, experienced instructors and the use of proper full motion simulators were all plus points. The price was reasonable as well and the experience I got from the course and a follow up session in their simulators was invaluable.

Just a quick big thumbs up for CRM Aviation at White Waltham :ok:. Did my MCC there before Easter and would recommend it to anyone thinking of them. Great instructors and good fun in the second week in their pretty impressive sim!
Originally wanted to go to European as they have had consistently good reviews over the years but they were booked up until the end May when I enquired... Well pleased with CRM though.

Cheers,
:}

MCC Course - CRM Aviation, Berkshire

I agree with PHEEL - I did mine at CRM Aviation - they are in Maidenhead. Excellent course, instructors were first class (and a good laugh!), and their SIM definitely impressive. Plenty of course materials, and facilities spot on. I combined my MCC with a JOC and got a good discount for booking together. Recommend CRM anyday.

v1rotate1 24th Jun 2011 16:09

I did mine at white waltham CRM aviation as well. Good instrcutors and the sim was a serious bit of kit. Only did mcc and am going back to do joc next month - they have MCDU's in the sim. White waltham is a good place as theres always GA stuff going on - we had a Spitfire beating the place up one day:E
