HELP - JAA ATP Conversion

Hi,

Could someone please give me some options/advise to convert an ICAO ATPL (Aussie) to a JAA ATPL.

I have had a read Lasors but figure others with experience will provide better guidance.

I have passed the 14 exams (UK), I have the class 1 medical (UK) and I have over 500hrs on multi crew wide body jets (currently an a330 FO).

In speaking to the UK CAA it doesnt sound simple.

My initial thoughts are (after a multitude of paperwork and money) I will need to arrange a 330 sim ride with a TRE and support pilot as well as arranging a CAA inspector to "observe."

Has anyone had any experience doing this?
Is there a better way than my initial thoughts?
I am in Australia so can it be done outside of Europe?
Can my UK theory subject passes be used elsewhere in Europe JAA states?
Are other states more accomodating?
Does anyone know possible places where I coulde hire a 330 simulatorin the UK or elsewhere? - Oxford Aviation is the one I know of.
I have a suspician I may need to get a flight radio licence first - does this sound right?

Cheers

Yes, that sound right. You need to get a Radio Telef...Operators Permit (only the UK requires this), with that in hand you can ask for the Observed Skillstest with at least 3 month notice. Requesting anything earlier will not be accepted.
Most JAA member states will credit the written exams done in the UK, some don t. You would have to ask them individually.
I have moved on to Serbia because of this. No Radio Telef....ope...permit required. CAA inspectors available on short notice and the TRTO I am dealing with over there is very forthcoming and helpful. Google them, Proaviator.
Say Hello to Janja, she is helping me to get my 747 Skillstest done at the moment.
Good luck.
