English Proficiency
I have a UK ATPL and I passed the english proficiency test in Poland (relta) and got a 6 (I'm fluent lived in Canada most of my life), I called up the CAA to ask if they can put the 6 onto the lisense, they said No, I would have to do the test again in England or through one of those schools they have an agreement with. I thought JAR-OPS has a rule that I country can't question where you did your english proficieny in an JAA country. How can I go about have the 6 put on my lisense without doing the test again?

Well besides the obvious, which is to take out a pen and write the number 6 on your license, I would come to the realisation that each country interprets the JAR FCL differently (even though the JAR FCL was created to avoid such nonsense). Morale of the story: if they say, "jump", you say "how high?"

You won't get Level 6 put onto a UK/CAA ATPL - even if you did the test in the UK.
I had to send them an email to: [email protected] stating the date of the test along with my licence number for them to issue a letter confirming that Level 6 is held for life which I now have printed off to carry with me for ramp checks. |
