FAA and JAA keeping current

Can anybody tell me what the difference is between keeping a FAA CPL MEI license and a JAA CPL MEI License with completing fATPL current. i understand your medical plays a big roll but like say what if you haven't flown for a few years, how many times a year do you have to fly, what check rides do you have to take etc.

another thing why do flight schools in america offer jaa licensing when all you do at the end is go back to europe to do the IR conversion. if someone wanted to get a JAA license but wanted to do the training in america as it is cheaper wouldn't it be easier to just go to a school and get your FAA licenses and then just go back to europe and do the IR conversion skipping all the JAA exams.

Thanks for your time.

I know nothing about the JAA requirements. A FAA certificate does not expire. To use it, you need:
1. A current medical, for the CPL, a second class,
2. A flight review (or something that counts as a FR) within the last 24 months, and
3. If you are going to carry passengers, three takeoffs and landings within the last 90 days.
