IR fulltime/part time how long?
 

just wondering, i'll be working to save up for MEIR and hope to start by next June. How long am I looking at to complete it? if fulltime or part time:)

I did the IR part time in Bristol started in Jan 07 and finished first week of May. Completed two days a week roughly, stepped up the pace when I moved from the sim into the a/c. These days FTO`s will work around you.
I wouldn`t rush as the weather for me anyway calmed down in May:}

I manged to complete the MEIR, full time, in just over 2.5 months.

It's different for every person of course. The biggest obstacles you'll face will more than likely be based on:

1. Study/training progress - just how capable you are and if minimums will suffice.
2. Adverse weather - even the IR is susceptible to fog etc.
3. Availability of resources - if your training provider is full and you're being shuffled in between other students, delays have a knockon effect.

Like all training, it seems insurmountable at times but wonderfully easy at the end... when you have the coveted licence in your hand.

It wasn't easy for me an any point. Takes about 2 months fulltime, but don't add a completion deadline to your list of stresses, so give yourself 3 months.

cheers guys, 2-3 months is what i was expecting, its a race against time, my ATPL credits expire in may 2011, so im workin despreatley to save up and complete the CPL then work n save for IR.:}

for the multi engine rating you tend to fly about an hour a day. can probably do 2 hours a day, but remember that all that asym work will be tough going on yer legs.

for the IR, you can look to fly about 2 hours a day. if you're going part time, it will probably require a little bit of refreshing each session to relearn the previous lesson, so don't be upset if you take a little longer than the 50 hours minimum. good weather sees it done in 5 weeks full time, 13 weeks if done sat and sundays.
IMHO, full time is the only way to go, but i understand that people have other commitments and this may not be possible.

full time then you could get it done in less then 2 months!part time could take any gods amount of time depending on weather,location,aircraft.and this is something to be cautious of if you do not get started by next june.letting those ATPL's lapse will prove fun!!!!:O

Guess I'll have to take time off work then and go full time, it's my worst nightmare if lapsing my ATPL's:ugh::bored:, the clock is ticking
