Flight planning test
Hi!
i am struggling a bit with the Flight planning subject, more specific the atlantic plotting (upcoming test tomorrow) grid navigation and plottning in general can anyone explain the questions 190 and 191 in the specimen questions part of the Flight planning book from oxford. A nudge in the right direction would be great!! 190 chart 5 AT(HI) flying from 80N 170E to 75N 011E Initial track is 177 grid what is initial true track? 191 Chart 5 AT (HI) the initial true course from A (65N 006E) to C (62N 020W) is? Easiest way: carefully plot each pair of positions on the chart (be careful with the longitudes), then measure the track direction at the start point with respect to the true meridian through that point. Bob |
John,
Bob answered your question. I took the exam a few months ago and struggled with those questions as well. If you calculate them then you get the average heading, however if you measure them at the start of the plot then you get the initial heading. Initial being the key word in the question. Good luck. It wasn't as bad as I had feared. I finished the exam with time to spare and was able to do the entire exam again twice before I submitted just to be sure about my passing. I got somewhere in the mid 90s. |
