What will you do if you were me?

Hi Guys
I just got my FAA Instrument rating with about 110 hours, and now I'm thinking to engage for a JAA ATPL. It seems that Distance learning is much much more cheaper, and more flexible on time. However, I asked some folks in Europe, and they told me that I need about 30 to 40 hours to get my commercial just after the ATPL, then complete with the multiengine, and all 's gonna cost about 8000£.
What do you think guys?First about the ATPL, then about the commercial license?

Here's what you'd do...

Do the ATPL exams
Build hours to 150 (minimum for starting the JAA CPL course)
Do the CPL course (training reduced to "CFI's discretion" if you have an FAA CPL) which can also be combined with an MEP course if you so choose
Do the IR course (training reduced to minimum 15hrs with FAA IR)
Apply for JAA CPL/IR
Get an airline job, then once you reach 1500hrs (with a few other requirements) you can take the ATPL checkride

I already have an FAA IR. To pass the JAA CPL, do I need a minimum of 150 hours?

Correct. The course is reduced to 15hrs for those with an ICAO IR as you can skip the instrument training section, but you need 150hrs to commence the course.
