UK's Best and Worst Flight School

Hi

I am currently converting my Aussie ATPL license to JAA in UK. I am attending the groundschool theory course at present.

For the Flying conversion training, I was thinking of either going to a school in Bristol called Bristol Flight Centre or an operator in Bournemouth.

Can anybody recommend the top 3 schools to train at and more importantly, where not to go. Who are the rubbish schools. What do you guys think of the operators out at Stapleford

Much appreciated.

Hey, I'm afraid I can't be any help to you, but I was just wondering if you could help me with my small expensive question. How much did you pay for your total pilot training course in Australia?

The search function is working again :}

I don't think anybody is qualified to nominate the three top schools. Nobody really has the insight.

Regarding schools to avoid, there are loads of comments on pprune from people with bad experiences, and just as many contradictive arguments. You will have to research the individual schools you hear about, by using the search function.

Stapleford has a rather good reputation here on pprune, and there are a number of lengthy and positive threads about the school, with the odd negative comment thrown in.

Everybody will recommend you to go and visit the schools you consider. What I did was researching on pprune, then picking four places to have a closer look at, and in the end I made my choice based mostly on location. :hmm:

Normally people select their flight school and do all their training there.

Consequently it is difficult for any one person to have knowledge of the 'top three schools'.

If you want to do some research into various schools you will find (by using the search function) that most, if not all, the schools have detailed coverage in this forum.

The best advice I can give you is to read as much as you can, make your list of those that meet you needs and then go out and visit them. Talk to the instructors AND students. It may cost more but will save you money and angst in the long run.

The thread title invites a host of response that will inevitably be based on personal bias. Given the predictable sequence of this topic it quickly degenerates into 'statement, counter statement, personal abuse' so I am closing it.
