Jet line course at BCFT - starting training this year?!

Hi all, I am considering to go and start the Jet line course at BCFT this August / October. Anyone here that is going too?

VFR Transit 13th Apr 2009 15:15

Did not take you long to research your choices, are you sure you have not rushed into this choice of school???

You only asked for information on this school last week?

lindsey.cauchi 13th Apr 2009 15:24

no noo .. I have been searching for a very very long time .. maybe since September!! Still, I'm not sure if I'm going there or not yet! I have CTC wings and Fly PFT as my other options. I would like to go to Oxford but its sooo much, it's too expensive. I still don't know the prices of Fly PFT yet! Why is something wrong with BCFT?! Do you recommend some other schools?

VFR Transit 13th Apr 2009 18:50

Nothing is wrong wit BCFT at all as far as I know, and you will find plenty off good things about BCFT on here.

I just said, based on your question last week about information on the school, and now your above post is asking for others who will be starting, which to me would say you have booked your place on the course and are looking for others who have joined and would leave not much time to have researched BCFT.

Have you visited the UK and seen the Flight Training Schools you wish to join??? maybe a cheap ryanair flight to the UK for a long weekend may be of some really good help to you.

There is so much research that needs to be done before jumping in with all that money.

do you have skype??? maybe we could have a chat.

Good luck.

yes yes i understand your point .. i am actually considering in going maybe in june since right now i am doing my A'levels so I have a lot on my mind .. I have msn .. do you have msn?! If yes just e-mail me your address privately :)

fabiensf 13th Apr 2009 19:29

I'm also going to BCFT in October, not for Jetline though as already have PPL. Went to visit them last week and from what I could see, looks like a good setup. Not sure where I'll be doing my flying as was also impressed by PAT.

Like others have suggested you should visit the school beforehand and preferably talk to the current students to get a sense of possible issues.

lindsey.cauchi 13th Apr 2009 19:34

ohh ic .. I was considering to go and do my PPL there before the October course starts since Dena (one of the school operators or so) told me that the ATPL ground school starts in october so I guess she didn't undersatnd that I'm opting for the Jet line course. I thought to before october and do my PPL there so I'd have the training in one place.

So you're sure of it?! You're Maltese aswell?

lindsey.cauchi 13th Apr 2009 19:36

Also, I have a Maltese friend of mine who did his training there and can't complain, so I guess it's good! Also I am thinking of going for a visit in June.

tropicalfridge 13th Apr 2009 19:43

BCFT is a good place, and they have had many Maltese people in the past. But its definately worth visiting the place yourself and spending some time getting a feel for it. All schools will be positive at the prospect of you spending 1000s, so best see for yourself.

lindsey.cauchi 13th Apr 2009 19:45

thanks for your advice .. I think I'm gonna go, don't worry :)

fabiensf 13th Apr 2009 19:54

Yep I'm Maltese too, did my PPL at malta school of flying.

I met Dena last week, and she told me that the ATPL groundschool starts in June, and October. I suppose Jetline commencing dates are earlier as you'd have to do your PPL before ground school.

I wouldn't worry too much about doing your PPL in the same place as your other training, at least I wouldnt base my decision on doing the Jetline course solely on that.

Us Maltesers have a reputation for going to BCFT since the school I did my PPL at have links with them. Apparently not too many of us go up there beforehand and explore what else is on offer.

Might be a good idea to try visit at the end of April to incorporate the Flyer exhibition in London.

tropicalfridge 13th Apr 2009 19:57

If you want to do it all in one place thats fine. But if I was doing it all again I'd do the PPL nearest where I live, the distance learning groundschool at Bristol.gs, and the CPL/IR at Bristol, Bournemouth or Stapleford. I'd stay well away from the big integrated schools as they are far more expensive and just living on clever marketing, I don't include BCFT in this as its still modular.

If you go along to your local club in Malta, someone there is bound to have an opinion on where to go in the UK. I bet Malta is a great place to fly, possibly limited scope for cross countries!

lindsey.cauchi 13th Apr 2009 20:00

Yes I know what you're saying, but I have my A'levels at that time, so I can't!! Yes I also know about the Malta School of Flying thing and I was considering in doing what you did before, but I was thinking that Integrated is a better option.

Btw, Sam, I totally agree :) haha

SweetChariotXV 14th Apr 2009 17:00

Hi Lindsey,

I am currently at BCFT. So far I find it a good set up, the instructors are very relaxed and do their best to help you where they can.

I am not on jetline, but doing ATPL groundschool. Not sure about the flying yet. Will concentrate on ground school for the moment.

There is a Maltese girl on the course too. Altho she did her PPL in Malta, and now ground school with us.

I looked at a few schools here in the UK and abroad, and for me personally, I found BCFT looked most suited for me. But each to their own, what one person likes, another may not. As other posters have suggested, you should research the schools and find what you think will be best for you, and what makes you feel most comfortable.

Good luck, maybe see you there.

my mate dave goes to bcft,

Make sure you go see it and speak to as many current flying students and finished students as poss, as a lot of the ground school students havent flown there, so theyll only be able to tell you about the ground school!:ugh:

Good Place, but dont expect to be given it all on a plate, at the end of the day you get what you pay for.

ps this is what dave looks like :8<-----

pps. Dave is totally fictional

Bon chance

Exactly. If you want to do an intigrated type course like jetline, speak to the guys who have either finished, and / or doing the flying there too.

ivehad2many 14th Apr 2009 19:51

Firstly jetline isnt intergrated and isnt in anyway stated as such.

I didnt do the jetline course as was before this course was introduced. I started my PPL at 14yrs old in their flying club, completed at 17 and then completed everything else at BCFT between 2004 - 2006. no complaints, all minimum time etc and happly got a job since

lindsey.cauchi 15th Apr 2009 11:00

I agree with all of you. The jet line course is like modular-integrated full-time. I talked to students who are goin, who completed their course and others who haven't done their flying! None can complain till now.

BCFT is the most suitable for me I think. I still have to go visit it in June but both financially (since I cannot afford to go to OAA) and their methods, I think they suit me. And btw, I am trained to search for things myself, be responsible, do my job and study, so if not everything is not given on the plate, I am used to it!!

Thanks to all of you from your advice, and it's a really pleasure to hear that BCFT is a good school overall.

Maybe I'll see you at school :)

take care all
