Class 1 Medical

What is required to pass the Class 1 medical? I want to become an airline pilot flying for a major UK airline and to get there I know I have to pass the class 1 medical. Is the class 1 medical really hard to pass? How fit do you have to be to pass? Can anyone give me detailed info about the class 1 medical?

Thanks for all your help:ok:

The CAA site details exactly what is involved with passing a Class 1 medical.

There is nothing difficult about passing it, but obviously it could uncover something that you weren't aware of e.g issues with eye sight or hearing etc. So it is always a good idea to get it out of the way early, before embarking on any commercial flight training.

It looks as though you are new to pprune? So if you haven't found it already? Reading the sticky at the top of the section provides a wealth of information (link below):

Good luck!

If your basic health is ok, you shouldn't have any problems with passing the Class 1. I've passed the Class 2 medical recently, you can't imagine how stressed out I was before I went in. I had millions thoughts about what is going to happen if I don't pass it. My life will be ruined. I was the drama queen for the two weeks before examination. I thought it was going to be really hard to pass, but I passed without a problem. I have a really good eyesight, hearing. My heart and lungs are healthy. I don't think that Class 1 is something to really worry about. The main reason why people don't pass it is because of their eyesight. But if your hearing and eyes are ok you should be fine.
