Conversions from FAA ATP next year?
 

Hello everyone,
someone has told me that apparently it will be easier to convert from FAA ATP to JAR ATPL from next year?
Does anyone know about this?
Supposedly, all you will have to do is: sit for an exam and then a flight test.

Nice rumour but I cant see it happening! Too much revenue would be lost at the UK ATPL schools if this happened. If you have >1500hrs or more in command of a heavy jet then you are exempt the 14 ATPL exams and only have to pass an ATPL LPC to be given a 'restricted' UK ATPL. Happy to be proved wrong though!

Hi, what do you mean by Heavy planeç? HOw many tons?For example?

I was a bit misleading by saying heavy jet, its not really heavy in the context of wake vortex category! I think its either greater than 20t or maybe 30t. I guess anything bigger than say an E145?

you need to have 3000 total time and 1500 pic in an aircraft greater than 30000 KG. then you will be exempted from several subjects

Hi, are you sure the aircraft has to be greater than 30,000KGs???

Pretty sure yes. Suggest you phone the UK CAA for a definitive answer or perhaps the information is in 'LASORS' which is available free online on the CAA website.

Please note that it will only give you a 'restricted UK ATPL', restricted to 'G' registered aircraft only, also who knows if that will still be valid when EASA take over and shake everything up again. :ugh:
