NPPL flying count towards CPL?

Hello,

I am 16, a glider pilot and i am just starting nppl training. After i get my (SSEA) Nppl i plan on buying a small aircraft such as a volksplane, does anyone know whether the hours i build in this can be used towards the CPL??

Cheers

Yes.

However, you can't go from NPPL to CPL, you're required to go from NPPL to PPL to CPL.

The hours count but that's about all that does! If you're thinking of doing a CPL, then I wouldn't recommend an NPPL; just do a PPL.

I'd agree. If you have the can then just do the JAA PPL. It will take a bit longer and cost a bit more, but it is the only way to do the CPL.

Also, in my humble opinion, the extra effort to get the JAA PPL is worth it even if you don't want to fly commercially. The extra experience you gain in the 13 or so extra hours is well worth having. And of course you can fly in other EU countries, which you can't with the NPPL.

I have spent many an hour trying to shortcut the route to the CPL, but the conclusion is you can't.

Not to mention the fact that you can't do anything half useful with an NPPL as far as ratings go ..

What you can do :
Section 1 Schedule 8 Part B Section 2 of the ANO
a.k.a. page 240 of this .... http://www.caa.co.uk/docs/33/CAP393.pdf
And what you can't :
Section 1 Schedule 8 Part A Section 3 of the ANO (p. 235) ...
No night, no IMC etc. ....

As others have said, if your (eventual) end goal is a CPL then a PPL is a worthwhile investment (providing it is done at a good FTO and not rushed).

Thankyou for the responces, they have been very helpful, yes I may try and do my PPL instead. I will have to get a job to start funding it, as currently i am volunteer at Classic Wings, Duxford and they have been paying me in flying hours.

Cheers

they have been paying me in flying hours.
Put in a bit of overtime, and who knows, might end up with an ATPL and 777 type rating if you work the night shifts ... :)

Best of luck, and happy flying !
