CTCwings Stage 2 Info
Just a quick one on stage 2 of CTC. Went for the assessment during the week and can now say that there is now NO verbal reasoning test, only the numerical reasoning test. Aptitude tests are as has been previously explained on these forums (http://www.pprune.org/forums/showpos...&postcount=950) - This link is very conclusive, bar the addition that the counting exercise does not exist on its own, only with the deviation indicator.
Advice: - Read the instructions carefully and very slowly, you are not timed for that section. - Learn how to long divide by decimals, ie. 45276389 / 3.2 - Buy this book, its fantastic for the numerical reasoning test: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Numerical-Re...6620236&sr=8-1 ta |
thanks for the info, on your example of the long divison question... is that one like the ones in the test... i.e the length of the number!!! - it must take more than 60 secs to complete?

Multiply 3.2 by however much is required to get it to the same number of digits as the top number (10m) then roughly work out 45/32. Should give you a good indication of what answer is closest (it's multiple choice remember)
EDIT: And I imagine you are going to get a torrent of abuse for not containing this in the CTC thread :D |
The way I usually work out questions like that is treat 3.2 as 32. Then, find two factors that make 32 (8 x 4 = 32). Divide the smallest factor (4) into 45276389 and then put 8 into the answer you get after dividing it by 4. This is simple division and multiplication to check you get the right answer. Doing it this way makes 14148871. The actual answer (done by calculator) is 14148871.5625...bingo! Practice a bit and it'll come quickly.
Edit: This method is courtesy of Bill Handley :ok: Otherwise, stick 3 (rounded down from 3.2) into the whole lot and then minus a bit off and you'll be close. |
numerical reasoning
do you get pen and paper to work it out or does it all have to be done in your head? :8
thanks |
Pen and paper are provided, as well as some nifty headphones!!

cool! thanks big frank
