Any places offering psychometrics testing courses?

Hi!

Does anyone know of any company (anywhere in Europe) that offers courses & prepares candidates for psychometric testing?

Thanks!

I don't really know why you would want to!

A psychometric test is all about your personality....there isn't really much you can do to change it so any "preparation" is kind of a waste of time.

If you want to increase your chances of "passing" by making sure the answers you give are what the testing body wants to hear can only really be regarded as a form of deception. These tests are designed to spot inconstent responses anyway, so they'll probably just bin you anyway as your profile might look a little odd.

Just be honest.....assuming it is for an airline job there are loads of different types of people on the flightdeck so just be yourself.....

If you're at school or university, check with your careers department. You obviously can't bluff your way through a personality test, but you could take a sample one to see the sort of questions you might get asked. At Leeds Uni the Careers Centre sent me passwords to allow access to tests you normally have to pay for, so it might be worth asking them.

Hi,

All the training you need is easy, read the questions and answer them honestly with your first thought, do not try to secound guess the question, it will show in your results.

Remember these tests are not done in isolation, you will be interviewed as well. If you don't match up then you have a problem.

If you want to prepare for any tests, then prepare for any maths/science/technical ones.

If you doubt your abilty to achive the results then it will show, trust yourself.

Regards

Nick.

But if ts based on personality why are there pilots who have failed it and then passed the same company's one 2 months later?

You can't "fail" or "pass" a psych test....it is all about the person who interprets the results and the consistency of your responses. As someone else said, you might have come accross as inconsistent between test and interview....that can easily change depending on whay kind of day you're having.

If it was just the test, then it is all a bit subjective and one person might have thought "NO" when another person might have thought "YES". It isn't an exact science.

Yup, just sit it, be honest and don't answer the questions based on what kind of person you think they want to recruit!!! If you're a normal person then you'll be OK..

There are many other tests used along with psychometric personality profiling questionnaires used to check your powers of; verbal and numerical reasoning, critical thinking or comprehension. Some tests show up certain personality traits hence the references to stable extroverts and so on when talking about pilot preferred types. There are many sources of example papers on the internet and familiarity with any test is usually helpful even if it only relaxes you. As others have said a good personality test answered honestly will give the same result every time in theory so unless your personality is subject to change then improving your educational and language levels is probably the best thing to aim for.
