Spanish CAA?
Hi,
Does anyone know how to get in contact with the Spanish CAA as i need to see if they approve of my JAA ATPL theory exams so that i can sit my JAR CPL over there? Mike |
Cant see why they wont,, I did my APTL'S at London Met but then took my CPL in Greece, the Greek CAA are a pain in the ass but there was no issues of things not been accepted,,, Spanish CAA are part of the JAA so I really think there should be no issue,, check with your training provider, they will have done this more than once

UK ATPL & PPL Theory passes are accepted in Greece
I would like to inform everybody that after an Egnatia Aviation request (and determination), the UK and the Hellenic CAA have signed (early 2007) a mutual agreement for accepting each other theory pass certificates. Both UK and Hellenic Authorities have honored this agreement not only for initial CPL or ATPL training but also for FAA to JAA conversions. :)
If you are not sure about the information you give please at least say so in your replies. Authorities from other JAA member states accept both training and passes without any formal agreement in place, based on the JAA concept of 'mutual recognition' etc, as stated in the first few paragraphs or JAR FCL. Egnatia Aviation has trained people from 24 different authorities todate and we have never had an issue yet that was not resolved by getting the authorities to talk to each other. Hopefully EASA will address some of these issues better. Take care, George :) |
Yes, in theory, but:
The Spanish seem to be unique in the interpretation of the rules. For an LPC, it should only require a completed Form SRG 1119 which the applicant presents to the Spanish and gets his licence stamped. The last two Spanish pilots I did required ME to sign the licence and then the Spanish required copies of MY licence, medical, TRE authority, LPC page and ratings page. They appear to thrive on paperwork. Oh, I forgot: and a completed skill test form. |
It may be that the UK and Greece have some agreement in place to recognize each others theory atpl, but one look at this thread says all you need to know about actually getting the paperwork in your hand! its not just Greece this applies to, i have had similar experiences with the Spanish, and more recently the Indian caa.

Only two posts ever both attacking Egnatia? I think you are one of our best fans! It is nice to know that somebody out there is keeping an eye on us! By the way, last CPL license (Jack's) was issued by the HCAA in just one week! Provided that the paperwork is completed cprrectly etc, the CPL licenses are issued within 3 weeks.

And if there not compleated correctly we have to wait three months because no one from Egnatia will call you to tell you anything, they just sit and wait for you to call and then tell you there is a problem!!!

Egnatia Aviation does not issue licenses. It is not up to the school but up to the authority and to be specific, up to the individual inspector dealing with the application. Communication is not always as good as it could be (and this applies to other authorities, I know) but it is getting better. Nothing ever in life work perfectly or to our exact liking.

bit of a different situation for me. from the uk, completed my atpls in spain. now due to family commitements i need to do my cpl in the uk if poss. problem is i cant find a way of contacting the spanish caa to see if i can get permission and also the communication is a problem. Any Spanish guys who are willing to help me out with this in terms of translation and contact with the spanish dgac would be definately apreciated!!.
