Triple A at Humberside
 

Apart from the 2 schools at Leeds i have heard about this school, has anyone got any experience or constructive views on it before i make the trip over to them?

Do a search on these forums, lots of info on Triple 'A'.

My advice would be to avoid this school at all COST. Check your PM's.

id do a search on here and also speak to as many people as you can who have experience of this school. The more people you can get first hand feedback for the better

if you have personal reasons for restricting your training to the leeds humberside area I would also do the same for multiflight and as was leeds flying school it may also be worth considering ravenair over at liverpool and I understand there are commercial training outfits based at both barton and teeside

the more people you speak to or obtain feedback from the better idea you will have about the overall quality of a particular school, some schools cater better for more people other schools only appear to suit certain types of trainee

it is always important to remember that although this is professional training and with that comes a responsibilty upon yourself to display good commitment, motivation and hard work - you are also the paying customer and should consider the satisfaction of previous customers of the various schools you may take a closer look at

I recommend Cleveland Flying School at Durham Tees Valley Airport, i moved there from Leeds :mad: Flying School and it was so much better, bigger airport etc...
The instructors are really good and always up for a laugh!

I noticed they just had a new website done and the other day went on to look at it and it said under construction again!

Why so negative about Triple A?
I did my CPL and multi/IR with them last year and never had any problems at all.
I found both the instructors very good, and the level of training was very high.
The aircraft used were some of the best I have seen. Never a problem with kit not working, if it needed fixed or replaced it was done.
Everything was geared to success at not only the IR but further down the line.
I am more than glad I did my training with them, got employment within 3 months after finishing, I only got to use my FI ticket for 2 months before moving on up to a 93 ton jet.

Triple A Flying
 

Just not worth the risk. There are loads of other schools around that have not sparked the debate triple a flying has. There is no smoke without fire. I know. I was an unfortunate attendee at Triple 'A' Flying. I got on just fine without the use of the so called experience imparted by the school. The "specialist teaching techniques, gained over twenty years in business" are no more specialist than any other flight training organisation and in many cases confused and corrupted what I had already learnt from other organisations.


Buyer beware:

Check and double check the list of promises on the website.

Check and double check the credentials of the instructors, flying as a pilots assistant in a Navajo or similar type does not count as "extensive corporate experience"! Look at logbooks!

Get 4 or 5 past students who YOU find to give you reccomendations.

Get very detailed costings from these people and watch the budget closely. And make sure that when there are 2 of you in on a briefing you are not being double charged!!!

This doesn't only go for Triple 'A' Flying, this goes for all schools. There are sharks out there, but this school needs special care.

I instructed in Yorkshire about 2 years around the Humber and have never heard anything decent about Triple A.

Thanks for that Tonker, but that's not to say you haven't heard anything bad.

What is the general concensus in the North about this establishment?

What are the good ones up there for fellow aviatiors who need to train up there for personal reasons?

Having had direct experience of Triple A. Can I say that instruction was good but with a large element of overkill (extra time and therefore money). So the advice given about strict monitoring of costs, always having promises in writing or witnesses to promises is spot on. I paid thousands more than early estimates!
