Flying school in Oregon,US
does anyone hav any recommended flyin school there for PPL ? ....and how is the weather condition overthere ?...
thanks in advance. |
Willamette Aviation, just south of Portland.
http://www.willametteair.com/ I didn't do my PPL training there, I just hired an aircraft quite a few times whilst on holiday from the UK (where I did my training). Great small flying school, good rates, and very friendly and helpful. As for the weather, I was there in the summer, and happened to be at a time of a heatwave! There were 2 weeks without a cloud in the sky. But the week after was 100ft cloud base and rain! Basically the weather around Oregon can change very drastically very quickly, so watch out. |
Check out Hillsboro Aviation just outside of Portland. I only visited there once, but was impressed with their facilities. Given that it is the Pacific NW you will face rainy days during the winter.

Agree with ck777 about Hillsboro Aviation (after all, ck777 lives there!). It's close to some busy air space, so you get that practice, but it's at a less hectic airport. Always had friendly tower service there (well, Almost always once I figured out the taxiways).
Fall, winter, early spring: lots of rainy days, low clouds, etc. A good part of the world to learn about icing. Personally, I prefer the dry side of Oregon, but young 'uns looking for livelier stuff like Portland. Here's another recent PPRuNe thread about the same topic, also recommending Hillsboro: http://www.pprune.org/forums/showthread.php?t=295546 |
