Dog Leg
 
I found the term "dog leg" when I read the FAR/AIM,I don't know the meaning about it,who can explain it? THX!

Flying two sides of a triangle in order to either increase the air distance flown (such as when high a long way out on the approach) or to delay arrival at an en-route fix. Named after the shape of a dog's hind leg.
