IR options

Hi everybody,
my next step after the CPL/MEP is the IR...
I live in Italy and I asked several schools about their courses. Apparently there are two options: the first one is doing all the course in a single engine a/c and then convert the IR in a multiengine a/c (5 hours conversion) and the second one (the most common in Europe) is doing 35 hours in the SIM and then 15 in a multiengine.
Which option do you think is the best one (if let's say the price is the same)?
With the first option you gain more experience flying in real environment every lesson but you don't get any multiengine time...
With the second one you have the advantage of the simulator that allows you to stop and review the flight at any time, set the weather etc...but... you're still on the ground anyway!
Guys, please let me know what you think!
Cheers

If i was going to do it all again, I would have gone for the sim option. Like you say, the sim can be stopped and things explained. Also if you do the single engine stuff then you have to learn a new aircraft a few hours before an IR test. This is just my personal opinion of course. :ok:
