quick clarification

Your contract is with the entity on the invoice you pay, it is not more complicated or simple than that.

Billie Bob - Great post. If something goes badly wrong during your training then Cabair should be held accountable. I'm looking to start my training with CCAT in the very near future and if anything were to go wrong at a satellite FTO then I would hold Cabair responsible. However, Sam is also correct in saying that the contract is kind of between you and the company that invoices you so that changes it slightly.

To be honest if Cabair said to me "your contracts with them not us" then they could kiss good bye to the remaining £45k's worth of business!

My advice would be to contact Cabair if you have any probs. I had a few when booking my course at a satellite FTO....contacted CCAT by phone and as if by magic things got sorted. They've been fine with me so far anyway.

CS :ok:

An update on that rumot. The first group of students may be starting at the new location soon. Far from moving, it's really expansion, adding additional facilities. It's a great training location too, although not on launch day!

i have just been with OFT for 2 months and they are not as bad as i had been led to believe. When they are running good, they are really good, but when they are bad, it makes you want to leave there and then. The organisation is not brilliant but better than i have experienced elsewhere. The aircraft are pretty beaten up, there are days when out of 11 pa28's, up to 9 will go into maintainence.
The instructors are first class. They have had quite a few new instructors start and the student/instructor ratios have dropped. some instructors are down to 2 or 3 students now.
Most of the dispatch staff are awsome!
The main thing with OFT, along with most other places is keep on top of your account or money will go to things that it shouldn't be.

On the whole, i think OFT is getting better since the FAA/JAA split. It is not a bad place to train as long as you are ready to be patient and stressed at times.
