JAA CPL(H)?Frozen ATPL(H) to ATPL(A)??
Has anybody else tried to go the wobblehead to planks route???
I am currently trying to find a way to convert a CPL(H)/Frozen ATPL(H) to a CPL(A)/FrozenATPL(A). Currently the CAA are stating that there is a bridging exam available covering all the bits and bobs that are different between the two exam streams however the are currently no groundschools offering this facility. The other exams are Principles of Flight, Performace and Op Procs. If anyone knows of the existence of this slippery course, or the willingness of a ground training facility to produce one I would love to hear about it. I have to say that I will be seriously :mad:ed off if I have to sit all the rubbish again!!!! Cheers :p |
Alex
I would speak to Bristol's Alex Whittingham
Dont speak to the CAA they will just fob you off with a load of JAR-FCL1 extracts... |
Thanks for that,
Have already spoken to Alex, the problem, and quite understandable too, is that to set up the course costs the ground school money. If they then only have a couple of people a year who will take the course then it takes years to get the investment back. I'm trying to find a school that already has the damn thing written!!!! Cheers |
I don't understand whats the differance
CPL(H)/Frozen ATPL(H) to a CPL(A)/FrozenATPL(A)???????? |
Errrrrrrr....
Helicopter=H, Aeroplane=A Rotors, hovering, V max approx 150KIAS, can't fly across atlantic, crap weather, poor pay, fun flying..... Wings, quick, long range, comfy, boring to fly when up to speed, pay better...... Hope that helps! p.s. Slightly different machines to fly, something to do with bumble bees and aerodynamics :} |
Paul,
You might try contacting the CAAs of JAA states with extensive offshore heli ops. They should have the highest number of CPL(H)/ATPL(H)theory pilots, creating a larger market for conversions/conversion courses, maybe one of them have a FTO/TRTO who already has such a course. Good luck! Redbar1 PS: Great explanation, glad to see a heli jockey see the light.... :} |
Campaign to Abolish Aviation
Of course any normal intelligent person would just
expect you to sit a couple of theory exams on fixed wing aerodynamics. But the chances of that will be nil I suppose.... |
glad to see a heli jockey see the light :{ |
Sorry guys:(
18 years flying wobbleheads, now I want to see if the grass on the other side of the fence really is greener:D Plus Mrs McKeksdown is fed up of having to search me out from the various drinking holes that we wobblers find in our off duty time:} Always remember, if the place you want to go needs a helicopter to get to it, it ain't worth visiting:ok: |
