ATPL exams expire?

Hi all,
I am looking into studying my ATPL theory exams over this next year. I have taken a look at LASORS and noted that it states that the ATPL theories lapse if a CPL and IR are not gained within 36 months after passing the last exam.

So after passing the exams I would have to gain my CPL and IR within three years, is that correct?

What are the exact ins and outs of this? Does it have to be a MEIR? Would I get away with holding say, a JAA CPL but an FAA SE IR?
cheers

Yup, that is what it says in Lasors.

I wish the rules would say that! ;)

Nope you need to hold a JAA IR in order to have the ATPL exams to remain valid.

Best wishes,

Charlie Zulu.
