Working in the US with a JAA CPL FI(A)
I'm working towards my CPL & FI(A) rating in the UK. What would the requirements be if I were to seek work as an instructor in the US. Would it be a case of doing a CPL & FI conversion course or peraps doing full FAA courses for each?
Has anyone ever followed this route either full time or temporarily, or is it a completely ludicrous idea with no prospects for success?? |
Hi Topper
This has all been done on the forum before, but with no search function you are cut off from research. In a nutshell - the FAA conversion requires that you take all the knowledge exams - CPL, IR & CFI (instructor) CFII (Instrument instructor) plus four flight tests with a fairly hefty oral exam prior to the test in each case. That's the easy bit! THE HARD BIT is getting to use all of these in the US without a Green Card which is almost an impossibilty! Loads have tried it few have succeeded. Good luck E S |
