Where now????

I was hoping for some advice on what direction I should take with regards a career in aviation.

I am almost 24 and have recently graduated from university where I got a 2 1 in Mech engineering which included a placement year with Airbus. Unfortunately a career in engineering does not appeal to me and now want to focus on my life ambition as a career as a pilot. Mainly through the ATC I have about 15 hrs flying time (could not do UAS as had to work at weekends).

Basically my question is this:

(1) Should I take out a £35000 loan from HSBC (got appointment to speak with bank manager about this) and do modular route but do Flying Instructor Rating instead of Instrument Rating and then TRY and get flying instructor job for couple of years to gain hours, then complete training to get frozen ATPL, easy as that, not I no!! or:

(2) Get engineering job, take out career development loan to do PPL and then gradually do modular route over longer period of time?

My preferred route is option (1) as I want to get started now but would really appreciate other people’s advice as have spoken to almost every flying school in the country and spent a couple of months reading this forum just to narrow it down to these two options.

Cheers, FlyingEngineer!
