Well then, here's my little bit for the record:
age 38( today as it happens)
live up in Carlisle, where men are men and the sheep run as fast as they can!
status married to a great girl and have twin daughters in mortgaged house.
occupation work in a textiles printing factory in the area but i'm about to bite the bullet and go away for a wee while to do my ATPL, it's now or never and there's no way i'm lying on my death bed saying ' i wish i'd had a go at that '.
Also play in a band at weekends or whenever really, do a lot of work in the Manchester/Liverpool area.
salary 25k
18 month projection Lets see what today brings first, but it would be nice to have a nice cushy flying job just for the office window view if nothing else.

Thumbs up This is fun! And very amusing.

Ok here goes:

Name: Melissa
Age: 25 in 3 weeks, where does the time go?

Live: With parents but will act as substitute g/f for nice home, upside is gorgeous black labrador, far more loyal than ex-boyfriend who fell by wayside due to my passion for planes. He chose to stay in California ( I left), 6 fig salary, house on beach, ferrari and another woman, HIS LOSS!

Qualifications: Degree, never used! FAA CFI, CFII. MEI. JAA fATPL and CPL IR, 1100 hrs total time.

Occupation: CSA with Buzz (dirty job but someone's gotta do it)!
Salary: level 1, weep, weep.

In 18 months: Hope to be in RHS of anything with 2 or more engines and living in own house, with holiday home somewhere hot, yeah right! Oh and maybe Tom Cruise will see the light and leave Penelope for me.

Isn't it beautiful being (VFR) on top?!

getting down

I'm 22

i live with my dad (though my g/f stays every night) near Harrow Weald having just graduated Aeronautical Engineering

I've just started work as a Systems Engineer. i have a pitiful 7hrs to my name and I desparately wanna be a pilot and I'm feeling really frustrated because I thought that I would at least have a PPL by now. I've compiled a list of all the local schools and their prices although this is pretty hard as there are so many hidden and extra costs. I almost don't care now I'll virtually pay whatever they tell me to pay and not waste any more time trying to work out the best school for the price - is this the wrong attitude to have?
I just feel I need to be on track now I want the ball rolling, I wanna be a pilot, I wanna be in the air whatever the cost and I can see its affecting my mood. So should I just go with Cabair's FlightPath package deal and do some hours building in the states or what?

please please someone help me. I need some advice

cheers

ewen

Hmm...and why not

Hello I have to admit, my plans fit me, and I know I am doing what is best for me. So, do what is best for you and don't compare to other people, because everyone is in a different situation financially and in other ways. We're all unique...

Name: Dan

Age: 18 (as of 30th Oct )

Salary: 12500 p.a

Living: At home

18 Months?: Well, simply, my plan is as follows...

I got my PPL in Canada last year (I am English and live in Surrey by the way), and now, I am working fulltime at a big cinema and theatre complex in woking (The Ambassadors if anyone knows it??), and that gives me good money for what " I " am doing. I shall be working until next July, where I shall be jetting off to Toronto, Canada, to complete, with a company based at Oshawa airport, my CPL, and Mulit-Engine. I have been strongly advised by many Canadians to get float time, so I shall put a float lisense in there too The the company's Manager of Operations has been in touch with me for some time, and has said upon completion, I will be offered a position, with enough time on multis(50TT), as a trainee FO on the twins. So, I think I am pretty much sorted.

I know I have to emigrate to Canada, but I am a strong believer I was born to fly, and go where my life takes me. That place is Canada, which I love so much. I have had people rain on my parade, but at the end of the day, it is very important to never ever lose focus and be drowned by peoples negativity. I have listened to peoples encouraging thoughts and words of wisdom. It may sound silly, but it gives you a bit more of a kick up the backside to get on and really go for it I find.

I hope my words have been a useful insight and of some interest to at least one person Everyone is capable of doing anything, so please, as fellow PPRuNe Wannabes, dont give up. Make yourself and everyone proud. It must be such an amazing feeling to accomplish this flying business and I intend to find out what that feeling is like!!

Go for it everyone and the best of luck to you all !!!!

Smooth Skies....

Dan
(p.s - anyone going to Gatbash )

Age: 34 Married two kids house with a mortgage.
Salary: 4
Occupation: Project Manager

To date: 560 Hrs TT all SEP

Recently completed ATPL exams and the CPL, all part-time. Now back Para Dropping at weekend so at least I'm building air time.

Next 18 Months: Still trying to work out where I'm going to find the money for the IR (actually just had the house valued again funny how the value of properties keeps pace with the cost of my flight training). No hopefully will have completed the IR and will have some MEP time to my credit and then look for the switch from what I do now to the RHS on a regional turboprop outfit.

Excellent idea Buzz (which appears to be my nickname on another forum)

Name: Mathieu

Age: 27

Live: Toulouse, France with lovely canadian gf

Occupation: Marketing Analyst A320 Family with Airbus (obviously)

Wages: never enough to save but around €35.000 at the moment

Training: trying to complete my PPL started about 2 years ago in Canada!! 50hrs TT

in 18 months: just filling out canadian immigration forms at the moment, will probably be on my way to complete an integrated course. Will then go for FIR or Float ratings which must actually be an excellent experience.
I'll just see how things evolve and take my time to get where we all wish to land someday.

I agree with "Tonic Please" to say that Canada is to place to be (maybe not for a good flying job though )

Good luck to you all!

Sorry for resurrecting this hoary old chestnut, but it gave me such a laugh that I felt overwhelmed with the urge to join in :-

AGE : nearly forty

HOME : only...forty four hrs from Tulsa

TRAINING : the wrong side of forty grand

OCCUPATION : more than the optimal forty hrs a week (unforty-nately)

WAGE : jist enough for ti make the job worth it yi ken

GOALS FOR THE NEXT 18 MONTHS : To work out the following...

If the answer to the universe is forty two, what's the question?

Gosh...now you know all my secrets!
