Licence in Spain - Class 1 Renewal in France ?

Good evening everyone,

On Monday (Jan 18) I have an appointment for the Class 1 medical renewal (at CPEMPN in Paris, France).
I have an AESA (Spanish) License - ATPL / CPL, etc.

- In 2017 I got the initial Class 1 medical admission to the French (CPEMPN in Paris)
- In 2018 class 1 renewal in a center in Spain (French medical file at the time) - I was an ATPL student.
- In 2019, before taking my exams (CPL / IR ...) I requested a transfer of my medical file to Spain (SOLI, etc.). Successful transfer.
- In 2020 my class 1 expired on Sept 1st.

- I haven't transferred a file or anything since then.

Due to covid, I had to wait 4 months for this meeting.

MY QUESTIONS
- Since my file is now in Spain and not transferred. Since in 2017 I did the admission in Franc
1) Will I be able to do my class 1 renewal in PARIS without any problems?

2) Will they refuse me the renewal because nothing has been transferred to Paris ?

3) If ok for the renewal , do they have to send the new class 1 to the Spanish authority?

Thank you all for your very precious help!
I stress ... 4 months of waiting for maybe nothing!

Thank you for the answer.

But could you explain me where did you get the informations?
i tried to look for EASA PART FCL, but tough to get an answer.

the document I received from Paris for Monday says :
« If your folder is not in Paris, please make sure to transfer it at least 1 month prior the medical examination ».

thanks.

Hey Imperial,

I have transferred my license around Europe 2 times already. Each time, the SOLI transfer included both the license and the medical file. In one of those cases, I was the one who had to gather the last three medical reports from the AME's that signed my Class I renewals, and pass them on to the exiting CAA so they could pass it along with the license to the entering CAA. This was due to strict protection data laws in the exiting CAA.

In all cases, getting the new license from the new CAA meant the medical file was in their hands (no medical file, no license issued). So, if you have a Spanish license (either CPL or ATPL), you can carry on as usual with the Class I renewals. Whichever AME that signs will send a copy of the new Class I to your CAA.

Unless the French CAA has its own set of rules (knowing the French wouldn't surprise me...) I don't see why they are telling you that. Calling them and asking for clarification is possible?

As an advice, always ask for a copy of the medical report to your AME after each renewal, you never know when you are going to need it.

It won’t be in part FCL. Try ‘Easy access rules for EASA part med’

When you get your pilot licences first time , your licence and medical have to be on the same authority. Thatswhy you transfered it to Spain . After you issued your licence you can renew medical examination in any state in EU. I think there is nothing to do with French CAA. Your medical issued in Spain now, most probably they will check more than regular renewal examination, It will be close to initial examination and thats it. You will get your medical cert. and you dont have to do anything more . AME or AEMC will send results to Spain CAA. Be sure, you said the AME you have foreign medical cert, because some of AMEs dont do medical check for foreigners medical certs. ( This is how it worked with me, maybe some countries have different rules, better to ask your CAA )
