CAE Flight planning and monitoring

Hi,
I am using CAE books to study Flight planning.

I have the annex with all tables for fuel planning, distances, etc...., but I can't find the annex with charts and plates for VFR and IFR flights

According to the book "The Jeppesen VFR + GPS (Visual Flight Rules + Global Positioning System) Chart GERMANY ED - 6 EDITION 1999 is the reference for Part-FCL 033 01 00 00, FLIGHT PLANS FOR CROSS COUNTRY VFR FLIGHTS."

Could somebody post me this document, or send me a link , or tell me where can I find it?

Thanks to all.

Evening josecr1980, the ED6 chart you refer to comes as part (along with lots of other charts) of the 1999 Jeppesen Student Manual - see first photo.

BUT there is also a new Jeppesen General Student Pilot Route Manual (GSPRM) issued in 2017, ED6 has now become ED4 - see second photo.

Some authorities are using the latest 2017 version but some are still using the 1999 version. So before you buy the appropriate manual you need to check with your ATO as to which one is appropriate for you. The 2017 manual is easily available from pilot shops, the 1999 version might take a bit more searching.

Jeppesen Student Flight Manual Differences

Dear RichardH

That was quite a comprehensive description on the two editions of the Jeppesen Student Flight Manual (2017 and 1999 versions). Would you also be able to shed some light on the following, please:

1. Is there a lot of difference between the VFR ED-6 and ED-4 charts? If yes, what are those differences mainly?

2. Are there any differences with the IFR charts, i.e., the E LO1, LO2… LO6 charts? Again, if yes, what are the differences mainly?

Most questions in the bank refer to the VFR ED-4 charts (I believe they are referring to the 2017 version), so I am just trying to find out if I can attempt those questions with the ED-6 charts (1999 version).

Thank you.

Hi Maverick16

Though ED-6 & ED-4 cover a similar area they do look different and are of a slightly different scale (irrespective of them both saying 1:500,000), of course things like airspace, obstacles, navaids, & variation have changed.

The IFR charts have significantly changed, in my view the old charts were much easier to read, my students would confirm this. Charts cover slightly different areas and again there are new/different airways/RNAV routes, navaids, variation but the biggest change on the high level charts now include RVSM routes. Also most of the VFR & IFR airports have changed too.

You might get away with measuring a true track & distance on the old ED-6 chart but I am afraid several questions refer to features only shown on ED-4. My advice is to bite the bullet and buy a new Jeppesen Manual assuming your authority are using the 2017 version, cost around £70.

Regards

RichardH.
