CAE closing completely at Oxford, moving to Sweden?

Latest rumour on the field is that the all flying at Oxford will move to Sweden (Stockholm area where they have a sim centre base?). Supposedly so that can still offer an EASA licence?

The groundschool is already closing and moving to Gatwick. That just leaves the IR flying left there, so there is not a lot left to move. The Oxford site will then be completely closed.

I wonder what will happen to the VFR flying? I presume going to Arizona is impractical for the forseeable future......

I predict that CAE will contract in an inexplicable and badly advised way until the industry recovers, at which point they will buy several dodgy flight schools at ridiculous prices without any obvious due diligence.. Next?

Any more substance other than airfield rumours?

Hard to say...I used to work for 1 Group in the 1980s, I've not been the same since then.

Ah! Alex, not the "I'm from 1 Group and here to help you" line. I didn't believe it then......... Do you reckon Sweden or Madrid?

Ah yes, the same line received from 1Gp, 38Gp, 46Gp but don't remember it so much from ASC!

As for CAE, I worked for them from when they took over OAA at LGW until I could stand it no more - globally disorganised from the top downwards.

Hi there - where have you heard this? Is it a credible source? I'm a current student here and thinking of my options. If they are thinking of moving to Sweden I will certainly re-evaluate everything

I wouldn’t take anything as credible on here.

Being a customer you have the right to know. Go ask the centre manager if I was you. He’s very approachable.

Ground School is definitely moving to Gatwick, why wouldn’t the flying move as well? Oxford is great, but the weather is not as predictable as other places.

I am leaving CAE after some thought, so I will never get to ask him (I was on the Madrid branch and was due to start in Oxford soon). Have you, or anyone else, heard anything else about this? My course mates would sure like to know if so!

Cheers
