UK CAA Initial Issue question
Hi guys. I am doing modular courses outside UK in an EASA school. I have completed PPL 2 years ago. I am about to complete now the professional training( CPL Multiengine IR). I would like to apply for UK CAA initial issue. I was informed that i need to apply for FRTOL.
-i have completed ATPL Theory
-i have passed english language proficiency (level 5)
I was wondering if i should apply for FRTOL or not.. Everywhere i read about FRTOL its about PPL!! like "pass the ppl exams etc etc ect"
for CPL do i still need the FRTOL?
I think i only have to do the RTF Practical communications test for FRTOL. right?
Can i do this online? Or if not online, anywhere close to Gatwick airport?

The practical RT test is very much orientated for PPL VFR operations.
It is conducted by a RT examiner. The CAA website will provide a list of those approved to conduct the test. Your ATPL exams cover the theory element.
You need this for licence issue. And before the flying tests?
Whichever State issued your initial class one medical will issue your licence. Have you kept your class one medical valid?

If you have a UK PPL , you already have a FRTOL..I have just done the same as you.
You will also need english language level 6 for a CPL or above.
When filling out the online application, when you tell the computer you have a UK PPL, it already knows you have one, It will ask do you need your language assessment upgrading , this prompts you about level 6

Hi guys. I do have ppl but not issied by ukcaa but from an other easa state so i dont have frtol . my medical 1 is about to expire In just few days so after it expires i plan to go to uk and do an other initial medical 1 in order to avoid delays(takes some time to transfer my records to ukcaa so its better for me to do again initial). Will this work? I mean an other initial to uk??
In the list i cant find something close to gatwick but far away..at least 120 miles away..(any chances to do it online??)
Also i dont think i need level 6! Its too much.. Probably you mean at least level 4..

Okay,
So you will need to proceed to gatwick and have a initial UK medical done.
I would just transfer your EASA PPL across to UK and have your medical done in the UK. (find a UK flight school - have there Head of Training conduct FRTOL test) - This can not be done online

Hello my friend. Thanks for your replies. I dont want to transfer my ppl. It will take time.. I passed the atpl english language proficiency test (level 5) and you think its not enough for uk cpl initial issue? Is there anywhere written? Because in ukcaa site i see everywhere at least 4..
Do you know any academy arround gatwick or any examiner? You can send me a pm if you know someone..

When you have completed your training a course completion certificate is signed off by your head of training

Level 6 is standard for UK issued easa Professional licence, Level 4 is PPL level
They are separate independent qualifications. The only correlation is that you must have level 4 to operate the privileges and that your language proficiency is printed on your licence.
You can be a PPL or CPL with any level between 4 and 6.

There is no link between the level of licence and level of English in FCL.055
There are plenty of people with CPLs and Level 4 English, likewise plenty of PPLs with Level 6.

i heared that i can fly CPL training (dual) without medical class 1 but i have to have it done for sure before the flight test with the examiner..is that true or i have to have it while im taking the cpl training?

The state of licence issue will be the state that holds your medical records - if you already hold an EASA class two then if you want a UK CAA issued CPL then you should transfer your medical records to the UK CAA to hold. This will You cannot hold, to the best of my knowledge, an EASA class 2 in one country and a Class 1 in another.
By now, I would have already completed my Class 1 initial. Just think about all that time, effort and money you'll have wasted should you suddenly discover a previously undetected medical issue that stops you holding a class 1 - it does happen!

Hi there. I allready did medical class one but its expired now and i dont want to renew it now in my state but i want go to to uk and get initial again. I dont want to transfer my records to uk but initial in uk.. Anyway my big question now.. I have a valid class 2.. Can i fly cpl training with this and before the flight test get the class 1?? Or i have to hold class 1 during the training? My head of training said that i can fly trainijg without class 1 but i cant fly skill test.. Now you will be wondering why not to get it now?? Becayse tickets are too expensive now to visit uk.. Sooo can i fly cpl training without class 1?? Thanksssss ))

I am in the same boat as you are! I Have a EASA Spanish PPL but I want to carry all my modular training in the UK. As far as I know, I've visited Professional Air Training (and they know pretty pretty well all this stuff), is that you can carry on all your training in the UK and being issued an Spanish EASA CPL ME/IR! The UK CAA examiner will completed a form advising the Spanish CAA that you will take your skill test and all will be fine. Therefore, you have to options now! You can transfer all your Medicals to the UK and being issued a UK CAA CPL or keep your Spanish Licence. I am still thinking what to do but in the Spanish licence you will have the SPANISH LEVEL 6 and your English level (I have 4), so I think it's something that a lot of British pilots don't have, and therefore is worth to have in your licence. However the UK licence (at least for me) has some more kind of "attractiveness". There are some UK airlines that wanted to you to have a UK licence (Easyjet or BA, but they will not hire you, at least as a freshly graduate), and some UK airlines (Flybe) provided that u have a good ATPL marks and done some training in one of their modular partners ATO (like PAT) don't care!
So decision time! Hope this help!
