Greatest of luck to this years applicants. These scholarships really are some of the best opportunities around today!

And bravo to The Honourable Company for their continued scholarship programme.

Looking through the application form it would appear that they no longer carry out the aptitude tests at Cranwell. It only says on the website that they now conduct short tests on the day of the interview in London.

It would be great if anyone here that's done these tests could shed any light on what to expect if invited for the tests/interview and also what sort of questions they ask at interview?

Good luck to all that apply. These schemes really are a great opportunity and such generosity is rare these days, good on you Air Pilots!

Is one able to use the "Flying Bursary" fund towards an "hours building" stage before the CPL?

Or alternatively for the ATPL Groundschool with a provider other than CATS?

Hi FL.

Are these bursaries/sponsorships an annual event? My son is looking to "commit aviation" in Summer 2016, so this recent award by yourselves is a little premature for him currently?

Yes.

The Air Pilots have offered scholarships and bursaries every year for many years.

The total number varies slightly depending upon funds available but they will continue to be offered annually for the foreseeable future - I hope for ever.

Great to see the young people involved in aviation.

I just hope that a new benefactor is found in the not too distant future to be able to continue the award for the INTEGRATED CPL/IR course.

Hi

I was just wondering if anybody who has applied for the scholarship this year has received a confirmation email that their application has been received, like The Air Pilots have done in previous years.

Thanks!

I applied several weeks ago and have not received a confirmation yet. How about yourself?

I haven't received any kind of confirmation yet either. However, due to so many applicants, it may not be possible for them to email everybody this year. Time will tell...

Good Luck!

I am not on the Scholarships Committee but I know there were almost 400 applications for scholarships for which the deadline was 17 March (PPL, Gliding and FI).

All the work from initial sift through to interviews and final decisions is done by very experienced people who are volunteers doing it in their spare time.
Processing 400 applications obviously takes time to complete.

I'm not certain but I don't think confirmations of receipt are sent out.
I think the next stage is applicants being told whether or not they have been selected for interview.

Good luck.

This might answer some of you - from the Company's website:

PPL Scholarships 2015

The application process is now closed, well over 300 applications were received and the Scholarship panel are now considering each application.

Candidates should hear before mid-April if they are being called forward for interview.

Candidates must be 17 or over on 1 June of the year of applications and the course must be completed by the beginning of October.

The closing date for receipt of applications for 2015 was on 17 March.

Please note: All compliant applications are acknowledged by email. If submitting your application by email, please try not to submit applications in photographic form as they are often too big for our inbox and are quite often very difficult to read. The best method is to scan and send as a PDF document.

Unfortunately, I haven't been successful. I hope to hear that someone else has an interview, let us know if you are one of the lucky few.
