SE IR sufficient to maintain ATPL's?
Hi. Haven't got Lasors with me just now but wondered if there is any merit in doing a SE IR to maintain your ATPL credits within the 3 yr window? Not sure if you have to have ME IR and if there is any merit to doing it this way? I was thinking if you could, then the IR could lapse if necessary and you could get the ME rating when you eventually decided to revalidate the IR? Perhaps this would be the cheapest holding strategy for those in the latter stages of training in the current economy?

Thanks. So does anyone see any major financial penalty (or benefit) doing it this way? My thoughts were to get the ME rating on revalidation of the IR (do parts of the IR course have to be repeated in a multi?). My reasoning is that I only want to do single engine work for the forseeable future, though I don't want to lose the ATPL's.
