completely new here and from Switzerland.
Want to take my gs in the UK.
Have looked all the threads prior to my thread.
I am not interested to do the long distance course so which other schools do you advice towards?
Money is not an issue as i have been involved in aviation for a few years as an avionics engineer but want at my 29 to change life and i like flying.
Have allready 100 hours and my PPL but i am a bit confused when it comes to which gs i should go to.
I am interrsted for the modular way.

Look here , everyones opinions are different and as has been said here two milion times do your research and make the dicison best suited to you , very few people have been to more thsn one school for gs, visit them and see for yourself .
I personally went to bcft and they were excellent .

Well i did look at it and that is why i pointed it out so i would not get a reply with a link.
Visiting schools does not show the true image of the school especially the way instructors go and come.
The true image always comes from the latest finished students in my opinion.

Okay well had you read it properly you will not find anyone saying anything new here ,every opinion you could possibly want is there , just take time to look for it , that way we dont have to type you the same answer we typed ten times before .

I've just finished at London Metropolitan University and no bad words to say about them. Great bunch of tutors with an atmosphere to go with it.

Cabair Bournemouth....great instructors, great structure and great results to go with it. A couple of small niggles here and there but nothing my healthy 95% average won't help me forget. I've put the school average result for the last two sittings below....

September = 91.2%
November = 93.6%

...results don't lie.

If I were you I would go visit a few of them, speak to some past and present students, compare prices and see who you like the look of at the end of it.

You can now start to see the reason why this isn't a particularly bright question to ask: the vast majority of people here have experience with only one school and are thus unable to offer any meaningful comparison.

Mine's the best, btw.

One of our students is doing his ground school ATPL with Oxford and is happy with it so far.

However the cost seems a bit high to me.

You can also go to Atlantic Flight Training. Most of my friends did it there and so did I. Again price paid and amount of help gained, lots.

Then there are others.

I second the comment on Cabair Bournemouth. The ground instructors are great and they have definately worked wonders for me and my results!

I used 3 ground schools. The first one went bust just after doing my Tech exams. I went to Bristol Ground school for the Nav exams and found them good.
I also went to Ground Training Services at Bournemouth for the IR theory exams and found them better. I enjoyed the course more at GTS, smaller class size and very knowledgable instructors. If I had to do it again? I'd use GTS. Only my opinion and i'm not saying anything wrong with BGS.

CATS 999 pounds distance learning 2499 in house 97% pass rate.

I can't rate the Bristol course highly enough. Great entertaining teachers. 98% average mark. Course arrived beginning of March, module 1 exams June, module 2 exams November. Full time job.

I wonder if anyone can help, i'm planning on doing an atpl, i want to do one in london,
The obvious school's are London Met and cats but is there any other schools that do this.
Has london met improved.
I have done searches but it came up with no information.(maybe i was doing it wrong)

Whatever you decide, take your time and look carefully into all the aspects of training and studying that are important to you. Try not to be sucked into schools that ride on the backs of well-known aviation publishers, and read between the lines of information handed to you by friends and foe alike; especially on websites where users are anonymous and often rude, arrogant, and/or ignorant.

I wanted London Met or Cabair but my father was a wing commander in the Swiss Airforce so he wants me to go to Oxford as a lot of the pilots went there in his time.

yes, it's good enough, but it's expensive and the oxford books imo go into far too much depth about non syllabus material and consequently you spend a lot of time putting huge x's through large chunks of your very expensive books. Most of the instructors are very good though, it seems they've gotten rid of one of the poor ones which leaves just one to go.
