Different painted aircraft.

Hi all. Just looking at the other thread about the red arrow, I was wondering what the best, most unusual colour scheme is that you have seen on a private plane???? That red arrow one the best for me and I think the worst is the Utterly butterly bi-planes they used(still do) have... :yuk:

A fun one is Hawker Hunter F.58 G-PSST (J-4104) 'Miss Demeanour' .

I know its all in the eye of the beholder but Misdemeanour is a hideous, albeit eyecatching, paint scheme. Likewise that one covered in newsprint. Looks like it came out of a chip shop.

I much prefer the BXFI Fox 1 hunter in the lovely glossy camouflage scheme. Purposeful yet practical. (And its a two seater which looks sooooo much better than a single seater)

Best - Cant think of one at the moment, but the worst - G-REAP & G-HISS, Pitts Specials in hideous, garish airbrushed colour schemes that the owner thought was pretty cool, but i thought look liked a bad dream after a serious night out at the pub. Awful..

Agree with Zlin526 about G-REAP.......the paint job is just too "busy" and the huge "GHOSTBUSTERS" written down the side is horrible. G-REAP is currently gathering dust in the back of one of the hangars at Netherthorpe - hasn't flown for months.

One of my favourites is the Pitts S2S G-EWIZ - simple but effective:

Another Pitts that is really cool:

(This picture doesn't do it any justice - very bright yellow and amazing metallic purple)

Rans RV8 - G-BWZN has the most amazing blue/purple/gold colour schemes (as seen on some TVR's) - it appears to change colour as you walk round it

Hi All

For variety you cant beat the different colours of the Yaks. Some are brilliant, some make you want to YAK. It is a pity that those funny letters on the tail can get in the way. Interestingly enough, on my a/c (which carries a reg exemption) small letters were applied under the tail. This was done for the benefit of our spotter friends. They had to be removed, as they were not original Soviet 15th Air regiment markings. I will try and post a pic. Happy flying every body.

Regards

Wide

Edited for failing to post a pic:\

Red Pitts

I don't know what it is, but a Pitts painted red just doesn't look right to me

As for purple ones....... :p

One of the best paint jobs ever applied to a British registered GA a/c must surely be Aero Commander 200 G-SONY, with the amazing japanese stylised dragons on the fuselage. Either side being different.

Genghis the Engineer 4th July 2003 20:44

My vote for worst ever goes to this French Sky Ranger

Best? Well not really a private aircraft but I took this at work a few years ago (I claim no responsibility, I was merely passing!).

I still like the photos that you see of the Tiger Sqn meets - some from the 50th Reunion below (my favourite being the Fiat G91R, which is the first link):

Tiger Meet 1 (Fiat G91R)
Tiger Meet 2 (F16)
Tiger Meet 3 (F16)
Tiger Meet 4 (Mirage F1C)
Tiger Meet 5 (Magister)
