Mode S - Again
 

Could anyone please tell me if there are any manufacturers working (or rumours of them working) on a cheaper Mode S Transponder.

In the past few days I have found out that Germany has published an AIC specifying the need for all VFR aircraft to have a Mode S Transponder by March 2005.:\

Owning a German reg aircraft this means I’m going to have to spend 5K+ within the next 20 months….:{

And before anyone says it changing it onto the UK reg. is not an option

Look at www.filser.de at the TRT 600. There is only limited info but it is mode S with a built in alt encoder.
Looking at other sites it would appear to be expected to cost approx 2000euros and be available "Spring 2003"
