Pitts display at Eastbourne today

Can anyone tell me anything about the Pitts aircraft at Eastbourne today.
Not only was it a cracking display it sounded like it had an additional jet engine?
BTW the Reds seem a little lacklustre and still only 8 aircraft.

That’s Rich Goodwin’s modified Pitts Special, see here for more: https://www.richgoodwinairshows.com/g-jpit
Note that his own website is still a bit behind the times.

The Red Arrows are using 8 aircraft this year, back to the usual 9 next year hopefully...

He displayed at the Old Buck airshow this year. Very, very impressive indeed, the finishing touch was the taxi back to dispersal on jet power only.

Certainly demonstrates the difference in power between piston and jet engines.

I think it is the combined power of both the six-banger and the jets that allows it to go vertical... it can't do it on the jets alone! I saw a jet-assisted Waco in the US many years ago (the forerunner of the Yak-110 project I think), it's certainly an interesting solution to overcome gravity.
