Renting a C182 skylane near Miami

Hello
I would like to fly a few days around Miami and to the Bahamas with 4 adults and luggage, end of june.
Any advice is welcome. Where to rent, which plane if not a Cessna 182... etc.
I'm french and hoping to fly in the US for the 1st time :).
Thank you.

Welcome to PPRuNe Marc,

I don't have local knowledge of rental possibilities in the South Florida area, so hopefully someone will be along with some wisdom for you on that. I have flown my Cessna across to the Bahamas once, and up and down the Florida Keys many times. they are both flights well worth making. Taking 4 adults and baggage in a 182 may be asking a little much of the airplane in the warm summer temperatures, so factor that into your expectations.

Good luck!

Naples Air Centre were good in 2015. Stopped in Miami on my return. Pilots Paradise may also be worth looking into.

Id recommend packing light and carrying cash as card isn’t always reliable. Get your FCC license presuming you are FAA certificated

I have a french EASA PPL and have applied for a FAA document (14 CFR Part 61, Section 61.75).
I looked at http://www.fcc.gov/commercial-radio-...icense-program and found
"You do NOT need a commercial operator license to operate the following:
Ship stations operating only on VHF frequencies that do not travel to foreign ports or make international communications (unless the vessel carries more than six passengers for hire, or the ship is larger than 300 gross tons and is required by law to carry a radio station for safety purposes)."
I'm not sure if I understand well... I'll be flying with 3 pax. Looks like FCC licence is not needed even for a flight Florida to Bahamas.
Am I wrong ?

thx. I have flown mainly Cessna 172 and Diamond DA40 and they are good only for 3 POB. Looks like finding a suitable plane to rent is more challenging than I was expecting .

I only got negative answers from schools and fbos.
Not renting for international flights and no 182 to rent.
Is there a way to rent from private owners ? Where to start ?
