I have two questions if I may?

With all this lockdown happening is there any grace/leeway/extension being given to pilots who are nearly up for SEP renewal to get the required hours in?

If you have done 12 hours flying in the last year of SEP renewal the normal process is just to get a proficiency check with an instructor. I thought I once read that if you have done a rating within the last year of your SEP e.g. (night rating or aero rating) then the proficiency check is not required. Am I imagining that or is that the case? It doesn't say so on the CAA website:

If you have flown your 12 hours, at least one of which is with an instructor/examiner(s) in any capacity (a training flight) and 6 hour P1 then you just need an instructor with FCL.945 or examiner to sign the paperwork and you’re good to go.

Answer 1. No. The CAA are not issuing extensions in the way they did during the initial lock down. ORS1418 however gives some leeway for hours gained in the validity period.
Answer 2. Any certificate of competency taken during the second year also counts as the proficiency flight . I renew my IR every year and my examiner signs my log book for both the rating and the SEP experience.

Duchess. An instructor with FCL 945 can only revalidate the SEP if he or she was the instructor for the flight that completed the 1hr. So the OP needs that instructor to sign the revalidation not an instructor. Otherwise, it has to be an examiner.

No, it counts in lieu of a dual flight with an instructor. It is not a Proficiency Flight, of which there is no such thing. A Proficiency Check with an Examiner is an alternative to meeting the 12 hour experience requirement including the total of one hour dual with an instructor.
