Glad to help

Signed as requested. Do AOPA, BMAA and LAA know about the petition? Might help get it past 3500 replies.

Signed. Only another 3100 odd signatures to go!

That would explain the planning condition limiting the airfield to 4 runway ie fixed wing movements before 10 am on sundays (NB No such limit for helicopters!)

Petition now has over 1,000 signatures

The Ancient Geek 8th August 2017 17:59

A response to the petition has now been published, those who signed should have received an email.
The council heard the petition on 26 july and resolved that the petition, together with the concerns of local people, be noted but that no further action be taken at this time.

They also tried to say 3,000 of the over 5,000 signatures were not valid as the persons signing did not live in the borough, however it was pointed out that Fairoaks accepts aircraft from outside the borough and even outside the UK, so these persons had a right to express an interest.
It was interesting to note that not all elected councillors had been informed of the planned development, these being the councillors representing Chobham and Ottershaw ie the most affected ones.

I got the e-mail but live outside the area. What next?

The Ancient Geek 9th August 2017 18:21

Nothing until someone submits a planning appication to develop the airfield, then the objections can start.

Sorry to get political but with net migration at 1/2 million a year they have got to be housed or have a factory to work in somewhere. The government seem happy with this because it keeps the construction trade going. Soon there will be nothing left but houses & gridlocked roads.

In a decade or two when we are awash with quiet(ish) electric autonomous flying thingys people will miss airfields.

... but maybe a decade after that these devices will be able to take off from little public pads in cities.
